Interview with Tanya (continued)
A different nationally-recognized judge visits each RDA member company. The adjudicator observes class and works on the company by different choreographers. The judge then chooses works across the region to make up the three programs for the Festival. Tanya’s new work, “A Friend of All is a Friend of No One,” was chosen for the Emerging Choreographer’s Showcase.
There are 4 Festivals nationally: Houston, TX, Las Vegas, NV, Montgomery, AL and Pittsburgh, PA.
Q: Where are your dancers from and how long have you been working with them?
A: “The Canton Ballet dancers range in age from 14-18. I have been working for the Canton Ballet off and on for 14 years. The dancers are so great to work with and they work so hard in every class and rehearsal. I can’t wait to see them perform in RDA. A handful of dancers are seniors this year, and I will miss them so much when they graduate. So, I am happy to work with them a little longer. They have been an incredible group.”
