Reflex of the Month©

Picture

Each month we will feature a Reflex of the Month to educate people on the many benefits of Foot Reflexology. Enjoy!

Call 216.364.0152 to request an appointment with Terry or to ask your questions about Reflexology.

December Reflex of the Month©
The LIVER Reflex

The liver reflex is located on the bottom of the right foot.  The liver is the main heat producing organ in the body.  It is very important to keep the energy open and healthy to the liver.

November Reflex of the Month©
Sciatic Reflex

The sciatic reflex is located in a band shape across the heel of both feet and behind the ankle bone.

Along with the sciatic, during this reflex Terry would also touch on the hip and shoulder reflexes in order to balance the whole torso and lumber reflexes.

October 2011 Reflex of the Month©
Uterus-Prostate Reflex

This reflex is found between the ankle bone and the heel on each foot.

This reflex can help anyone who may have male or female issues such as infertility, sterility, PMS, etc.

The pituitary reflex may have to be worked on too if the client is having any hormonal problems.

It is important to work on this area to keep the nerves open and to make sure oxygen flows to that area.

This region is usually tender on everyone.

September 2011 - Reflex of the Month© - Intestinal Reflexes

Made up of Small and Large Intestines - digestion
Small - responsible for nutrient absorption
Large - responsible for transfer and elimination of food
Between the Small and Large Intestines is the Ileocecal valve. It is a flap that opens and closes automatically to tranfer food. If it is not working properly, there is backwash into the small intestine which can lead to digestive distress and even to sinus problems because of the histhimine release.

It is important for these reflexes to be strong for the energy to work well in the body and it is important in digestion.

August 2011 Reflex of the Month© - "The Spinal Reflex"

In Reflexology, the spine is represented by the medial part of the foot:
Cervical: Great Toe- helps anything in the head
Thoracic: Ball of the Foot to Mid-Foot - Helps upper back
Lumbar: Mid-Foot to Heel - Helps lower back
Sacral-Coccyx: Heel - Helps Sacral issues

When there is a lack of good energy flow anywhere in the body, crystals form in the reflex of that body part in the foot. They are especially noticeable in the spinal reflex. The Reflexologist breaks that up so oxygen flows better through the body.

This renews the nerve and blood supply in the spinal area.
The spinal twist is part of the relaxation technique.

July 2011 - "Ten Toe Reflexes" -
Based on Zone Therapy

10 Zones in the body - starts in the fingers and ends in the toes
Each toe represents a zone in the body

Toe Rotation helps relax the neck, head and throat

The Great Toe represents the head. Imbedded in the Great Toe is the Pituitary reflex - governs the hormones in the body. The Great Toe is worked for the head, and the lesser toes are helper areas and represent teeth, gums, and sinuses

June 2011 - "Diaphragm Tension Reliever"

The diaphragm is a muscle located in the chest within the ribs. It is the involuntary muscle that allows you to breathe during the night while asleep and also assists in digestion. The reflex is located  under the ball of the foot. This muscle gets very tight when there is pain in the body, so this is a very good relaxation technique. In fact, this technique is used througout a Reflexology session to keep the client and the body relaxed.
