Pat Gates, LMT
Pat is a Licensed Massage Therapist, Certified Structural Integrator, Reiki Master,
Worker’s Compensation Provider, and BLS/Heartsaver CPR Instructor.
Up until recently, she was also an adjunct Massage Therapy Instructor at
a local college for the past six years teaching the Business, Advanced Massage Therapy, and Clinical Practice classes. Pat has been doing some form of bodywork since 1996, beginning with her first Reiki class. From volunteering at a Reiki Clinic, she become interested and certified in relaxation massage in 1999. While working doing
relaxation massage, she realized that there was a great deal she didn’t know
about anatomy and physiology and therefore could not answer her clients needs
without further education and a license in massage therapy. In September, 2001, Pat attended the National Institute of Massotherapy for her training as a Massage Therapist.
She passed her boards and received her license in January , 2003. In April of 2003, she began working in
a Chiropractor’s office and became a Worker’s Compensation provider. While attending Massage Therapy School, she was introduced to Tom Meyer’s “Anatomy Trains” book. Tom Meyer’s believes there are fascial links that gives an understanding to whole-patterning in posture and function leading to the interplay of movement and stability. These linkages made a lot of sense to Pat for treating an individual. She attended an “Anatomy Trains” class in Sarasota, Florida in 2004 which then lead to a 500 hour training course in “KMI” (Kinesis Myofascial
Integration), a type of structural integration. She began here training in 2004 and
completed it in May of 2005.Pat is never satisfied that she has learned everything she needs to know in treating
her client’s needs. She has taken additional classes in Neural Fascial Mobilization I and II, Visceral and Neural
Fascial Mobilization, The Neurology of Posture, The Female Pelvis, Qi Gong,MRTh, Pilates, Kinesio Taping, Sports Massage, and Dissection as well as attending conferences and webinars, for bodywork and as an Instructor of Massage Therapy.
