Relaxation Massage (Certification Course) Overview

Goals;
> To develop a program teaching basic relaxation massage techniques
> To understand that the body's own healing system works optimally when in a relaxed state, and the benfits of relaxation.
> To learn massage techniques that can be performed in a chair, wheel chair, or a designed chair/table for massage and hospital bed.
> To learn how to give a relaxation massage in 15, 30, and 45 minute increments.
> To learn to apply lotion or oils when appropriate.
> To learn some of the contra effects that massage could also have on a person's body if not done properly.
> To learn the universal precautions of hand washing and hygiene when performing a relaxation massage.
> To learn body mechanics and self-care techniques designed to promote practioner well-being.

> To understand the scope of practice for relaxation massage.
> Have the skills to give a quality relaxation massage.
> To understand contraindications and precautions before performing relaxation massages.

> 105 Clock Hours
> 25 hours of Anatomy and Physiology
> 20 hours General Massage Practices
> 20 hours of Ethics/Hygiene
> 35 hours of Hands on Time (20 hours of learning and 15 hours of actual clinical)
> 5 hours for exams and quizzes
